Introducing the DUTCH Advanced Hormone Test

DUTCH is an acronym for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones.

The DUTCH Plus is a comprehensive dried urine and saliva test that optimises data collection about your sex and adrenal production and metabolism.

More than simply gathering singular data points of progesterone, testosterone and oestrogen, the DUTCH Plus offers another layer of insights for your practitioner by displaying conversion of sex hormones into the many active pathways to activation and utilisation.

The DUTCH Plus also offers insights into organic acids, evaluating potential nutritional deficiencies, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis, melatonin levels and neuroinflammation.

Gathering morning cortisol across three saliva collections, your practitioner can see if your cortisol is in the optimal range, telling us about your body’s stress state and HPA (Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal) axis function

How long do test results take to come back?

Results are usually back within 4-5 weeks of the lab receiving the test sample. We’ll notify you when your results are back.

Is this test more comprehensive than a full hormone test from my GP?

Yes. The tests available from your GP may assess key hormone markers but won’t identify the cascade of those hormones and metabolism of them.

A key advantage of urine over blood is the ability to collect multiple data points across a full day, rather than one single data point.

Can you review my MRT/HRT/TRT doses and prescribe bio-identical hormones?

No.  Our functional medicine team are naturopaths so in Australia, are not authorised to prescribe medication or MRT/HRT/TRT.  We can, however, refer you to functional general practitioners who can review this for you.

Should I retest my hormones?

It depends on why you’re testing, and what your results are.  If your focus is to get a baseline before any interventions, you may like to retest in the future to assess and review progress.

The cadence of retesting is unique to each individual based on results.

Where can I get a hormone imbalance test in Australia?

You can access an advanced hormone and metabolite profile via Melbourne Functional Medicine. Contact us to order your test.  Once your results are in, our team will contact you to arrange an interpretation session to help make sense of these results.
