Introducing the Precision 88 dietary antigen test

The Precision 88 (P88) Dietary Antigen Test identifies and addresses food allergies and sensitivities by measuring IgE, IgG, IgG4, and complement (C3d) reactions to 88 common foods. This aids in the management of symptoms like hives, digestive issues, and chronic conditions linked to food sensitivities, and supporting intestinal healing by eliminating problematic foods. This multiple immune pathway testing allows for deep insight into food reactivity.

The complex nature of this report, and high accuracy is what makes it a stand out assessment tool.

IgE, IgG, IgG4 are different immune pathways and you may react to a food in one pathway and not another. By testing multiple immune pathways, this ensures that nothing gets missed.

What does this test help me with?

The P88 Dietary Antigen Test was the first test on the market to measure and report immune complexes containing C3d. Complement activation is well-defined in the research as one of the strongest causes of inflammation.

IgE-mediated food allergies can lead to hives, anaphylaxis, or digestive issues while delayed food sensitivities (IgG and IgG4) are linked to sinus problems, acne, gas, bloating, fatigue, constipation, autism, irritable bowel syndrome, and even depression. Identifying and eliminating food sensitivities can also assist in the healing of intestinal permeability.

This comprehensive assessment helps your practitioner identify immune reactions that can be addressed through personalised dietary changes as guided by our functional medicine practitioners. Precision is key.

Detailed reporting helps you understand the interaction between what you consume and any immune reactivity. You will see the degree of reactivity and with which immune pathway for each food tested.

If you have any suspicion that food may be impacting your optimal health, P88 will help to assess potential dietary interactions.

Why we recommend this food sensitivity test

Our immune systems interact with everything that comes into the body, including food. Unidentified immune-related food reactions are often at the root of less than optimal health. When dietary sources of inflammation are overlooked, ongoing inflammation may not resolve, even when other treatment and optimisation protocols are in play.

Solving the riddle of dietary immune reactions is a cornerstone test in a world of digestive sensitivity unlike any other time in our modern history. We see more people more often with food-related issues and taking out known problematic food sources is the first step in management, healing and on to optimisation.

The reporting on P88 is extremely thorough and offers valuable dietary insights beyond the primary immune reactions. It offers broader food group guidance and may help to identify other dietary sources of inflammation.

We would recommend the P88 over one of the KBMO FIT tests if you want insights into your food allergy profile via the IgE immune pathway.

This only tests 88 foods. What about the rest of the foods not tested?

The choice of 88 foods is based on their prevalence in the diet and their potential to cause immune responses, making the test both practical and relevant for identifying food-related health issues.

If you feel you are more sensitive, you might consider discussing with your practitioner the option to eliminate other foods from the same food group.

What kind of testing analysis is used in P88?

Precision Point Diagnostics uses an indirect ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) to provide reliable, reproducible semi-quantitative measurement of IgE, total IgG, and IgG4. The system is also capable of detecting immune complexes that contain the complement marker C3d.

I’ve had a skin prick allergy test. Is this the same?

The skin prick test involves placing liquid droplets of allergens on the skin, usually on the forearm, and then pricking the skin to introduce the allergen. This test primarily measures the presence of IgE antibodies, which are responsible for immediate allergic reactions. It only detects IgE-mediated allergies and does not assess delayed hypersensitivity reactions. It can also produce false positives due to cross-reactivity, and there is a small risk of anaphylaxis.

Precision 88 identifies food sensitivities and allergies by analysing multiple immune responses, including both immediate and delayed reactions. It assesses a broader range of immune responses compared to the skin prick test.

While the skin prick test is a quick and effective method for identifying immediate IgE-mediated allergies, the P88 test offers a more comprehensive analysis of food sensitivities by evaluating multiple immune pathways.

How long do test results take to come back?

Results are usually back within 4-5 weeks of the lab receiving the test sample. We’ll notify you when your results are back.

How long will I need to eliminate foods for?

This will depend on which immune pathway is in play and your practitioner will guide you here. For most people, avoiding foods which initiate an IgG response will require you to eliminate that food for a minimum of 6 weeks, ideally 12.

If an allergy is detected, there is a chance that food either won’t be reintroduced or, at your practitioner’s direction, may be introduced after healing and repair to your gut integrity has occurred.
